College Football Roundup: Week Four
Week four of the college football season proved one thing, and one thing only. Don’t take your opponent lightly. Yes there were blowouts, but there were a lot of close games, and some upsets in week four. Last week, Boston College snuck in to the AP top 25 and were quickly bounced after making their first appearance since 2008. This week, Kentucky gets in for the first time since 2007.

Week Four Studs
Out of all the schools that play football, this one probably gets the least amount of respect. Duke football has secretly been creeping up and winning lately, and last week they did just that. Even though they beat an inferior North Carolina Central team, Duke is now 4-0 on the young season and will have a test next week at home vs. the Virginia Tech Hokies. And the winner of that game, is most likely playing in Charlotte in December for the ACC championship.

In the Blue Devils 55-21 win over NC Central, redshirt sophomore running back Brittain Brown rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown while also reeling in a nice 44 yard TD reception. With the win and the 4-0 record, Duke is back in the AP top 25 at number 22. If they can get past the Hokies next week, watch out for Duke. They won’t make a college football playoff run but they’ll once again turn heads in the ACC.
Another stud in college football this week was the play of Trevor Lawrence. It sounds like a broken record but the kid can play. He only had 176 passing yards but he added another four touchdowns in Clemson’s 49-21 win over Georgia Tech. Another big player again for Clemson is receiver Travis Etienne. I mean enough is enough already. He had 11 receptions for 122 yards and a TD. He’s turning into the Antonio Brown of college football and this Clemson team is beginning to look unstoppable.
Week Four Duds

Year in and year out the fans of Boston College have hope for their team. They always want their team in the top 25 and a respectable bowl. And for the most part just when they finally get that respect, they blow it. After finally making an appearance in the top 25 for the first time in 10 years, they got derailed by a winless Purdue team 30-13. Heisman hopeful AJ Dillon was just another guy on the field with 19 carries and 59 yards. The nation’s former top efficient passer Anthony Brown had a forgettable game with four interceptions as well for BC. This BC team may still be a good one, but they aren’t quite there yet.
The other dud in college football is Virginia Tech. A team that destroyed Florida State to start the year got embarrassed by Old Dominion. The Hokies lost 49-35 and looked awful especially in the fourth quarter giving up 28 points. Steven Peoples had 132 yards on the ground and was the lone bright spot for the Hokies. With the loss, Virginia Tech can kiss the college football playoff goodbye.
Week Five Games to Watch
Obviously the big one is #9 Penn State hosting #4 Ohio State. The two big dogs in the B1G (Big 10) go head to head yet again and the winner will be in the top four of the CFB. Can Penn State’s defense contain the Buckeyes offense? Can Ohio State finally win in Happy Valley? Kickoff is set for 7:30pm on ABC.
The other big game is #8 Stanford traveling to South Bend to take on the #7 Figting Irish. After a rather boring win against Vanderbilt, and a blowout vs Wake Forest can Notre Dame kick it back up to take on a top 10 team? Can Stanford’s Bryce Love have a true heisman game and win it for the Cardinal? Kickoff is set for 7:30pm on NBC.
