College Football Roundup: Week 6

Week 6 of the college football season is in the books and we saw quite the spectacle in Dallas, TX.  The annual Red River Showdown featured 2 top 25 teams in the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners and boy did they give us something special.  Texas escaped with the 48-45 win after having a 45-24 lead after 3 and many thought, this game was over.  But Oklahoma had other ideas scoring 3 touchdowns in the fourth to tie the game.  All tied at 45, it came down to a 40 yard field attempt by Cameron Dicker the kicker.

Week 6 College Football Notables

Travis Etienne, have yourself a season young man!  In Clemson’s 63-3 victory over Wake Forest, Etienne had 10 rushes for 167 yards and 3 TD’s!  That’s just your average 16.7 yards per rush, no big deal.  Etienne already has 761 yards rushing on the season with 11 TD’s and looks like the Heisman favorite.  As of right now, it doesn’t look like anyone can stop him.

However; the sad part about this game is Miami reciever Ahmmon Richards’ football career is now over.  Richards didn’t play in this game due to a neck injury and the school isn’t releasing much information.  The University of Miami is still keeping Richards on full scholarship though so that he can finish his academic career.  Richards was hampered by several injuries last season and only played in Miami’s opener and injured his knee after the first catch.  Doctors say that his neck injury is progressively getting worse and it’s in the best interest of him and the team for him to stop playing the game altogether.

Week 7 Games to Watch

#2 Georgia at #13 LSU.  The Tigers are coming off of a close loss to Florida on the road and want to creep back into the top 10 and a win against the #2 team in the land would do the trick.  Georgia’s offense looks to keep rolling and stay alive come the first college football playoff rankings in a couple of weeks.  Kickoff is set for 3:30 on CBS.

The other marquee game to watch is #15 Wisconsin at #21 Michigan.  Can Jim Harbaugh finally write the ship and get another quality win?  Can Wisconsin win against a ranked opponent on the road for the first time since 2016?  Kickoff is set for 7:30 on ABC.
