Cleveland Browns Request Meeting With Josh McDaniels
It’s Black Monday in the NFL and moves are being made left and right. One team that’s already making moves is the Cleveland Browns. The Browns finished a disappointing 6-10 with a lot of talent on the roster. They went out and fired Freddie Kitchens immediately after their season finale.

And now? The Browns are looking to interview Josh McDaniels to be their next head coach.

With this information now out to the public, there are a few things to think about here.
McDaniels Accepted (And Then Unaccepted) The Colts Job Last Year
We remember that debacle last season right? Josh McDaniels looked poised to go coach the Colts. All of a sudden, he said “Nah, I’m sticking in New England. Have fun though!” in certain words. It caused a huge uproar with Colts fans and around the NFL. I’m a little bit surprised here that teams want to give McDaniels a shot based on that tidbit. But hey, forgive and forget I guess, right?
The Browns Would LOVE McDaniels In The Fold
The Browns need an offensive minded coach at the wheel. Look at the team you can have next year on offense fully healthy, with the exception of trades happening. Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, and David Njoku all in the same offense? McDaniels would have a field day with that team! Plus, McDaniels is an Ohio guy from the beginning. That might not hurt his case either. The Browns need a refreshing change and McDaniels can bring that.
The Patriots Need A New Direction On Offense
The Patriots offense declined this season. There was a lack of separation from the receivers, which resulted in an extremely conservative offense. McDaniels isn’t going to want to deal with that if he can go to a team that has an explosive offense like the Browns. Unless the Patriots can get some better offensive pieces in 2020, then I wouldn’t blame McDaniels for wanting to try a new opportunity.
In Conclusion
McDaniels will be interviewing with a lot of teams. He’s a very likable candidate. The Browns do have a lot of enticing pieces that have coaches drooling at the mouth to go there. It might be time for a change with all sides involved here. But for now, the Patriots have a game on Wild Card weekend (Man, I can’t believe I actually just typed that out!) to focus on at the moment.
