Christian Arroyo has been key for Boston
In 2021 the Red Sox have surpassed expectations. Through their first 88 games, the Red Sox are tied for the best record in the AL. One player who has been key to their success is Christian Arroyo. Although Arroyo recently missed time due to injuries, he has picked up where he left off. As the Red Sox look to secure a playoff spot and division title, Arroyo will be a key piece.
Through 44 games this year, Arroyo is hitting .265 with 21 RBI’s. The former first-round pick also has five home runs and 36 hits. So far this season, he has had a talent for coming through in the clutch. All five of his home runs this year have either tied the game or given Boston the lead. While he has come through offensively, he is also making a difference in the field.
Entering Thursday, Arroyo ranked third in defensive runs saved. In 139 chances this year, he has not committed an error while turning 22 double plays. The Tampa Bay native has provided the Red sox with a reliable presence at second base. In every aspect Arroyo is making a difference.

After missing the last two weeks of June, Arroyo has been solid in his return. In three games, Arroyo is hitting .273, including a home run in his first game back. Against the Angels, he has remained fans of his value and has come through in clutch moments.
With the season halfway in the books, Arroyo has carved out a role in Boston. He has posted highs in every offensive category while taking on an increased role. In the second half, he will be looking to build on his success and cement his role in Boston. Regardless of how the season turns out, it has been a first-half that Arroyo will never forget.
