Charlie McAvoy has been in the news quite a bit the last few days. Recently he made headlines when he arrived late to a few team meetings. However, that issue was quickly squashed when Marchand approached him about it. At the end of the day, not a big deal.
Now for the good news. McAvoy was back on the ice with the Bruins this morning skating in a pair with Kampfer.
He was a full go for all activities and Cassidy said McAvoy was “feeling good”.
McAvoy has had a tough season and has been battling injuries for almost the whole year. He’s played in just 17 of the Bruins’ 43 games.
He’s still been able to produce 11 points thought.
The Bruins have been lucky that they’ve had some depth in their defensive core but McAvoy’s return would always be welcomed. McAvoy’s recent absence has been because of a foot infection. He received the infection after blocking a shot during the December 17th contest against the Canadiens.
The shot block opened a cut around his ankle and he needed stitches for the cut but he continued to play. While home for the holidays he noticed the infection and was then quickly put on antibiotics to cure it.
Coach Cassidy has already ruled McAvoy out for Thursday’s contest against the Capitals but is optimistic he could return this weekend. When McAvoy returns Cassidy will have a big decision to make as all of Boston’s defenseman will be healthy and someone will have to sit.
Over the five-game win streak, the Bruins defensive core has been playing great and has helped their goaltenders immensely only allowing nine goals over that span.
Their current pairings are Chara-Carlo, Krug-Moore
