After yet another international break, we are seeing champions league action back in full tilt!

In this weeks’ group stage, we are entering week 4 of the Champions League and should be able to tell a clearer picture of who we see moving onto next round. Normally, out of every group the teams to qualify onto the next round are the top 2 of each group.

In some of the groups is clear to see who is moving onto the next round, in others not so much as the battle gets closer and closer. Either way, let’s get more into what matches to follow and why!

Today’s Must Watch Matches – Score Predictions

Manchester United vs. Istanbul Basaksehir

Many of us are still shocked at the absolute whooping that Manchester United got at the hands of Istanbul when they last met. However, this is a very important match for Manchester United to win and here is why.

Manchester will need to find a way and secure the first place out of group G in order to have a comfortable way into the next round. For Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, this match could very easily be his job on the line as inconsistencies in the lineups continue to bring unstable results. I believe Manchester wins this one, but it will be a physical game for sure and Donny Van De Beek, Edison Cavani, Alex Telles and Juan Mata must all start.

Score Prediction: 3-1 Manchester United.

Paris St- Germain vs. RB Leipzig.

PSG finds themselves once again in a must-win position. Currently in group G, PSG stands in third place behind RB Leizpig who happens to have beaten PSG previously by a 2-1 score. If you have been listening to the Yellow Card Podcast every Sunday, you may have heard me say a few times how i predict that PSG will be one of the first outings of the Champions League this year. Should PSG find themselves with a tied score or a loss, they will find themselves out early in the group stage.

Score Prediction: 2-1 RB Leipzig Victory.

Considerable Must-Watch Match: 

Zenit vs. Lazio

I am putting this match as a considerable one. Should Lazio lose and Club Brugge beat Borussia Dortmund, Club Brugge would be second in the group and Lazio will find themselves in a must-win position in the next match.

However, realistically speaking I see Lazio winning this match. My score prediction would be 3-0 Lazio.

TOMORROW’S MUST-WATCH MATCHES – SCORE PREDICTIONS.

Inter Milan vs. Real Madrid

When the Champions League started, I was excited to see Inter Milan with so much talent, now not so much! Inter Milan finds themselves coming into this match with a must-win mentality, reason being they are dead last in a group where frankly they should be second at worse-case scenario.

The good thing for Milan is that Real Madrid comes into this match without the likes of Sergio Ramos, leaving open a lot of room for Romelu Lukaku to make an impact. However, the fact of the matter is that Milan needs to win and unfortunately, I see this ending in a tie.

Score Prediction: 2-2 Tie.

Liverpool Vs. Atalanta

The last time these two met, Liverpool DOMINATED Atalanta and murdered them by a score of 5-0. Now Atalanta needs to come in here and make Liverpool pay big time and they can do that.

Atalanta must take advantage of the fact that Liverpool doesn’t have real center-backs coming into this game and therefore guys like Duvan Zapata, Gomez and Pasalic need to use their bodies and win physical challenges. The additional plus for Atalanta is their height, so corner kicks should be a great opportunity to make a serious impact.

Liverpool on the other hand comes into this match with an incredible counter attack headed by no other than Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah who tested negative for this game and is in the clear to play tomorrow. Atalanta better buckle up because this will be the match of the week in my opinion.

Score Prediction: 2-1 Atalanta.

Considerable Must-Watch Match

Borussia Monchengladbach vs. Shakhtar Donestk

Hear me out!

Borussia Monchengladbach sits at the top of group B, close behind them are Shakhtar Donestk by a point.

However, the bottom two of this group are Real Madrid and Inter Milan. Say that Real wins but this match ends tied, Real Madrid and Inter would be in MUST-Win situations.

Some good ole soccer drama never fails to make things exciting! Score prediction: 1-1.

Champions League, Here We Come!

In conclusion, while the big guys like Barcelona and Juventus find themselves at a comfortable situation. Teams like Real Madrid, Manchester United, PSG and Inter Milan find themselves in very awkward situations where a win is a dire necessity.

I stand by my previous comments on Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, today’s game might be his future with this team and should inconsistencies continue to be the issue here, don’t be surprised to find OGS out of a job by end of year.

As the boys and I discussed on the Yellow Card Podcast episode #12, the troubles for Manchester United aren’t just OGS and Paul Pogba. Honestly speaking, Ed Woodward could also be on his way out of a job by end of year. Even the rumor mill has started to think this too!
