Celtics Need To Make A Move Quick
The Celtics are playing incredibly well so far this season, but they are still lacking that dominant big man that can do everything. I do believe Danny Ainge will make a move for a center in the near future and he needs to. The real question is, who should the Celtics go after? My answer would be Marc Gasol. The Grizzlies are off to a terrible start this season and they just fired their head coach. This may be the perfect time for the Celtics to go after the seven footer. Having Marc Gasol would benefit the C’s in many ways. Gasol can defend almost any big man in the league and he is physical while doing so. Gasol can also put the ball in the hoop. So far this season he is averaging 19.1 points per game while shooting 41% from the field. Gasol fits in perfectly with Brad Stevens offense and would be the rim protector that the Celtics visibly need.
Even though I love how Baynes has been playing this season, Marc Gasol would be a huge upgrade at the Center position. I even wrote about Danny Ainge trading for Gasol this past summer. The only two things standing in the way of a trade going down, would be his hefty contract and who the C’s would have to give up. I am sure the Grizzlies front office would want one of the C’s valuable draft picks, and maybe a key young player. Plus the Celtics still have their eyes on star center Anthony Davis. As the season goes on, look for the C’s to continue interest in the Marc Gasol.
