Celtics Lose to Lakers Thanks to Rajon Rondo

What a punch to the stomach the end of the Celtics game was last night! You had to figure it was just bound to happen with everything that went on during the day, and with the fact that Boston teams have had much success against L.A. teams lately.

Coming Into Last Night

The Celtics rode a 5 game winning streak into last night against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. They looked to be on the verge of winning their 6th in a row…until Rajon Rondo hit a dagger at the buzzer.

Who Performed for the Lakers

Rajon Rondo of all people with a buzzer beater. I loved Rondo and what he did during his time in Boston, but last night hit too close to the heart. Rondo finished with 17 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds. But of course, LeBron James was the star in this one.

LeBron finished with 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists in his first game at the garden in a Lakers uniform and for the first time since he knocked the Celtics out of the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals in game 7.

Who Performed for the Celtics

For the Celtics, Kyrie Irving once again led the way with 24 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. One guy that had a very good game for him was Daniel Theis. Theis finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists as well. He seemed to be getting it done on both ends of the floor.

The Celtics had four other players in double figures scoring wise on the night.

Bottom Line

It is a tough loss to swallow, but it’s time for the Celtics to regroup and take care of that other L.A. basketball team, the Clippers, on Saturday night at the T.D. Garden. Get back on the winning track and get ready for a tough next few weeks ahead with road games included in Philadelphia, Milwaukee, and Toronto. Yikes!
