Can Dwight Howard Boost the Lakers?

The Los Angeles Lakers signed former All-Star center Dwight Howard to replace the injured Damarcus Cousins, who tore his ACL during an off-season workout. This signing could be huge or just a disaster waiting to happen.

Dwight Howard was once an unstoppable center that gave teams nightmares. However, since his departure from Orlando, Howard hasn’t been the same player. His time with the Lakers was something to forget, as he and Kobe didn’t see eye to eye. He has now been bouncing from team to team and can’t seem to establish himself as one of the top centers in the game.

This opportunity is huge for the center. This can make or break his career. Obviously, LeBron and Davis are to two players that teams are going to game plan for. So, this could be a great opportunity for Howard to put up big numbers like he did earlier in his career.

I am excited about this signing. I think it might even be a better fit than Damarcus Cousin because Dwight is much faster and athletic than Cousins. The Lakers are going to want to play fast pace game and I don’t know if Cousin would be able to keep up.

The battle of LA continues to heat up as we get closer to the start of the regular season. Like mentioned, this opportunity for Howard is so big for him. If he can’t get this right, then maybe it will be time for Howard to hang them up.
