Cam Newton Will Be the Week 1 Starter (Just a Guess)
The New England Patriots looked really good Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, winning the game 35-0. With that being said, the Quarterback battle has officially hit its highest level. Cam Newton played really well, stepping up in the pocket, avoiding the rush and most importantly, his throws had really good zip to them. It’s even safe to say Cam Newton could be the week 1 starter.
Mac Jones, however, did not disappoint. He looked really great and the offense just seems to be coming natural to him. One play that stands out is his deep ball to wide receiver, N’Keal Harry. It was one of the best passes from this preseason and although Harry dropped the ball, Jones accuracy was on notice.
However, this is Newton job to lose. With his performance the other night, 103 passing yards and 1 passing touchdown, Newton will likely be the starter week 1. Fans really want to see the Mac Jones era begin but Belichick won’t do Newton like that.
If Cam can play like he did the other night for 17 regular seasons games and maintain it through 4 quarters, the Patriots will be back in the playoffs, contending. However, Newton needs to have a short leash because this team is built for the playoffs and if the QB play is causing them to struggle the first couple weeks, a change needs to be made.

That decision isn’t up to anyone but Bill Belichick. To me, facing a lot of pressure this year to see what he can do in year two without the G.O.A.T, Tom Brady.
