Build Your Ideal $15 Patriots Tailgate Meal
I wrote earlier today about a “Pick Three” scenario with sitcoms. If you love old television shows like I do, look right here! As I was scrolling through Twitter a few weeks ago, I came across this interesting yet fun game.

Who doesn’t love a good tailgate meal? It makes the experience of going to a football game that much better! Since the draft isn’t till Thursday and there’s still no sports on, let’s have some fun with this!
$5: Steak Tips
All of the choices for $5 are incredible. However, hot dogs feel like a more Red Sox game type of treat. Burgers are good, but just not my overall favorite. Wings are in the same boat. Pizza? Meh, I can have that anytime. Steak tips done right on the grill are a treat. Anything steak related is my favorite food, has been since I was younger. So start me up with a good amount of steak tips. Plus, it’s a solid protein!
$4: Mozzarella Sticks
Besides steak tips, I’m a HUGE cheese guy. Any type of cheese, I’ll gladly eat. I’ve never been a big fan of potato skins. Pigs in a blanket? Seems more like a fancy appetizer at a company party to me. Chili? Good option, but don’t want to be in the bathroom the whole game. Nachos are okay. So for me, the best options are mozzarella sticks. Gooey, cheesy goodness in every bite. It helps me balance my healthy and unhealthy eating in this meal.
$3: Buffalo Chicken Dip
Buffalo Chicken Dip is unreal. I don’t care who hates it or who calls me overrated for this take. I’ll defend buffalo chicken dip to my grave! Spinach artichoke dip is good, but not as good as buffalo chicken to me. 7 layer dip? Same thing as the chili, trying to actually watch the game and not have to go to the bathroom constantly. Queso for this meal wouldn’t make sense. I love cheese, but there’s a limit for me. Guacamole is something I can only have with Chipotle or burgers, (Try it first BEFORE you tell me I’m gross/weird!) so that’s out. That leaves me with Buffalo chicken dip. A solid plate thus far if I do say so myself!
$2: Pretzels
You need something with that Buffalo chicken dip, right? Popcorn is nowhere near a good choice for this. Crackers are okay, but nothing special. Potato chips are decent, but again, nothing spectacular. Tortilla chips were a close second for me here. But in the end, I’m a huge pretzel guy. So pretzels are my side with the dip.
$1: Bleu Cheese Dressing
Ketchup doesn’t go with really any of these. Neither does mustard. BBQ sauce could be good with the steak tips, but that’s about it. Ranch is inferior for me as far as the bleu cheese/ranch debate is concerned. That leaves us with Bleu Cheese. You can dip your pretzels in it. Buffalo chicken and bleu cheese go together like peanut butter and jelly. The steak tips if you’re feeling adventurous can be dunked in there too.
In Conclusion
A fine meal if I do say so myself. Somewhat healthy, but also very delicious. Think you have a better one than mine? Tweet it at me or the Couch Guy Sports account @CouchGuySports. I would love to hear other’s combinations and their defenses for them. Let tailgate talk begin!
