Bills fans have another reason to celebrate. Yesterday afternoon, Buffalo brought back a huge piece to their defense as linebacker Matt Milano signed a 4 year, $44 million contract extension. I cannot express how huge this is for the Bills. Milano was a free agent and the Bills cap situation was very tight. However, the Bills released a couple of players and restructured some contracts and were able to bring back one of their best defenders.
I’m going to be honest, I did not think the Bills were going to pull this off. Not only did the Bills had their backs against the wall in terms of money, but Milano had a great season and he had the right to test the free agent market. According to NFL.com, Milano had a total of 45 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season. To put in perspective how big this is for the Bills, in the games Milano played this year, Buffalo only lost once and that was in the AFC championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Also, never say no one wants to play in Buffalo. The culture they have is exactly what a winning team is built on.
