Bruins Talking Extension With Cassidy

The Boston Bruins have begun to negotiate an extension with head coach Bruce Cassidy. Cassidy has been a pivotal part of the Bruins success over the past three seasons and has made it to the playoffs in each of them. Cassidy has experienced 117-52-22 record during his time and has helped grow budding stars like Pastrnak and DeBrusk while being able to keep his veteran players happy. He’s capable of commanding the locker room and the Bruins are built like contenders with him at the helm.

Cassidy is predicted to make just over $3 million per season on his next deal which would put him amongst only 8 other coaches over the $3 million dollar mark.

Casssidy has been a blessing for the Bruins and has been able to reinvigorate a stagnant powerplay during his tenure, while not sacrificing much on defense. Under Cassidy the Bruins have become a younger and faster team as opposed to Julien’s coaching style which required heavy and slow players who delivered heavy checks. The game is changing and it’s good to see Cassidy’s style adapt to the way of the NHL.

Now that Sweeney is working on locking up his head coach let’s hope he can soon figure out deals with RFA’s McAvoy and Carlo.
