Bruins Injury Updates
The Boston Bruins are preparing for a deep playoff run and their first game is set for tomorrow night against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Bruins stumbled down the stretch but have reasons to be positive. With a second place finish in the East the Bruins certainly shocked the NHL and now that they have players returning to their team for a playoff run they’ll be rejuvenated and ready to go.
The Bruins have been missing key pieces in their lineup and it has affected their play. A fully healthy Rick Nash will be returning for the Bruins tomorrow night and the veteran winger looks to bring experience and consistency to the B’s second line. Nash returning creates more depth on the Bruins third line and he should be a good matchup against the small body forwards of the Leafs. With Nash’s return it looks like Donato will serve as a healthy scratch for game one.
Also returning with Nash is Sean Kuraly who has played a pivotal role on the Bruins’ fourth line. The Bruins fourth line has been a workhorse all year and they’ve provided the Bruins a physical spark when they need it. Kuraly has been a consistent presence for the Bruins and he will be reunited with Wingels and Schaller for tomorrow’s tilt.
The Bruins picked a good time to get healthy, however, they are still missing a key piece of their team. Riley Nash will not be returning tomorrow night. Riley Nash has served multiple roles for the Bruins this year and he has excelled in all of them. Spending most of the season on the third line he played well alongside Backes and Heinen, he was able to create a third line that was able to produce consistently. When Bergeron went down, Nash was also able to step into a top line role and produce with Pastrnak and Marchand. Nash will resume skating tomorrow and will hopefully be available for the Bruins by Saturday.
Everyone knows depth plays a large role in the playoffs and a team with tons of depth can run the table during the playoffs. The Bruins have three good players that are going to be healthy scratches in Holden, Donato and Gionta. Depending on the results of game one they could draw into the lineup this series. A healthy Bruins team is a force to be reckoned with and the Leafs are gonna be tested by a Bruins team that is an Eastern Conference favorite.
