Bruins Getting Set For Pre-Season Trip To China
As part of the Boston Bruins partnership with O.R.G. Packaging, the team will be playing two pre-season games in China against the Calgary Flames this month. The first matchup between the two clubs will take place on Saturday, September 15th in Shenzhen, China. The second game will be played on Wednesday, September 19th in Beijing, China. Though the trip to China can be a long and grueling one, the Bruins are still bringing a talented roster with them. Here’s who’ll be on the trip overseas.
Forwards:
David Backes, Martin Bakos, Peter Cehlarik, Ryan Donato, Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson, Trent Frederic, David Krejci, Brad Marchand, Joakim Nordstrom, David Pastrnak, Jack Studnicka, Jordan Szwarz, and Chris Wagner
Defense:
Brandon Carlo, Matt Grzelcyk, Charlie McAvoy, Adam McQuaid, Kevan Miller, John Moore, Urho Vaakanainen, Jakub Zboril
Goaltenders:
Jaroslav Halak, Tuukka Rask

Some of the main names left off of the list are Patrice Bergeron, Torey Krug, Zdeno Chara, Anders Bjork, Danton Heinen, and Sean Kuraly. Heinen and Kuraly aren’t traveling to China because they represented the team on a trip this summer. The other four guys aren’t traveling because they’re recovering from injuries.
The Bruins are sending quite a solid group of guys across and there will be some positional battles that should take place while there. As I’ve mentioned before, on offense, expect Forsbacka Karlsson, Frederic, and Studnicka to be battling it out for the third line center role. On the defensive side of things Grzelcyk, Moore, McQuaid, Carlo and Miller will be fighting to land the final three defensive spots that’ll be up for grabs as camp progresses.
Hopefully the B’s and Flames will play a couple of competitive and intriguing games to give the fans over in China a good look at what the world’s best can do. Get excited everybody. Pre-season hockey is here, which means regular season hockey is just around the corner.
