Bruins Fourth Line Leads The Way In Game Seven
The Boston Bruins are on to the second round thanks to a valiant effort by their fourth line. The Bruins fourth line of Nordstrom-Kuraly-Acciari was dynamite for them in game seven and they accounted for two goals on the night while also pinning the Leafs in their own end. Nordstrom started the scoring by squeaking one past Andersen in the first period. After a sloppy second period by the Bruins they brought the pressure back in to Toronto’s zone and were tossing the body around all night. That line lead the Bruins in hits with 6 on the night. Kuraly gave the Bruins the 3-1 advantage in the third with an absolute snipe over Andersen’s shoulder.

That line continued to push the pace by being responsible the rest of the game and getting pucks in deep and pressuring Toronto’s tired defense. The Bruins as a whole did a good job closing down Toronto’s offense but this line especially stepped up in both ends of the ice. Not only did they contribute at even strength but Acciaria and Nordstrom operate a helluva penalty kill and were great fro the Bruins throughout the whole series. Kuraly returning to the lineup certainly brought a a big punch back to the fourth line. The Bruins went on to finish the Maple Leafs season by a score of 5-1 with Nordstrom , Johansson, Kuraly, Coyle and Bergeron scoring. Seeing Coyle and Johansson on the scoresheet is another great sign as the Bruins struggled to get third line scoring almost all season.
Hopefully the Bruins top line can get their offense vibing once again against Columbus and the fourth line can just keep being role players. The Bruins’ likely won’t win the Cup on the backs of their fourth line but they certainly won game seven because of them.
The Bruins open up the second round tomorrow night at 7:00 hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets are fresh off a sweep of the powerhouse Tampa Bay Lightning and should be a tough task for the Bruins.
