Bruins call up Jack Studnicka due to David Krejci injury

David Krejci was injured during the Bruins 3-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils last night.

This is less than ideal news considering the Bruins’ scoring slump these past two games. On top of losing Krejci, Ondrej Kase, who was playing on the second line with Krejci, is still injured with no timetable on a return.

According to coach Bruce Cassidy, there are no specifics on the extent of Krejci’s injury.

The Bruins departed for Lake Tahoe today and will face the Philadelphia Flyers in the outdoor game on Sunday. Krejci was nowhere to be found when the team boarded the jet. However, Jack Studnicka was there and seemed to be all smiles under his mask.

This could be Studnicka’s chance to prove he belongs in the Bruins’ lineup. He has been playing as a winger, but he is a natural center. He scored his first and only NHL goal on January 21st, 2021, ironically against the Flyers.

David Pastrnak had been moved from the first line to the second line during last night’s game, but with Krejci gone, you can expect to see Pastrnak back on the top line alongside Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand.

With Studnicka in the mix, my best guess for the forwards’ lineup would be:

Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak

Ritchie-Studnicka-DeBrusk

Frederic-Coyle-Smith

Bjork-Kuraly-Wagner

This will only be the case if Cassidy decides to stick with the same format as last night. The Bruins’ offense has not been up to par, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he shuffled the lines again entirely.
