Brock Holt’s New Brewers Contract Makes Me Angry!

This has been a really trying off-season for the Red Sox. The icing on top of the cake was Brock Holt leaving for Milwaukee on a one year contract. The terms finally came out yesterday as Holt signed for 3.25 million dollars in 2020.

I see this contract and it makes me mad for a few reasons.

He Wanted To Stay In Boston

It’s so sad to think about this out loud. Brock Holt wanted to continue on in Boston. He’s been through the good times and the bad times in his Red Sox tenure. The whole Holt family genuinely loved the Boston community. This makes me even more angry considering this could have made Red Sox fans a little bit happier about the 2020 season.

The Red Sox Paid Jose Peraza 2.85 Million

Jose Peraza is earning 2.85 million dollars this year with the Red Sox. You’re telling me the Red Sox couldn’t have spent $400,000 more dollars to keep Brock Holt? Nothing against Jose Peraza here. He supposedly plays good defense and can steal bases for you. But, he’s no Brock Holt that seemingly did everything while playing in Boston. Literally a difference of $400,000 for a player that was LOVED in Boston came to be the deciding factor. Wow!

In Conclusion

Best of luck to Brock Holt. He 100% earned the right to look elsewhere to play this season. The man loved being a Red Sox player everyday he was here. It stinks to see him in a Brewers uniform, but what can you do at this point? Spring training games start today and I’m so glad baseball is back…sort of!

The off-season is over with, let’s get back to the most important thing: actually seeing the Red Sox play baseball games.
