The New England Revolution have mustered another return and this one is a massive fan favorite!

Revolution has acquired midfielder Lee Nguyen in a trade with David Beckham’s Inter Miami. New England has made its official announcement via Twitter and Instagram sending fans into a frenzy!

Lee Nguyen’s Return

The return of Lee Nguyen to the New England Revolution is surely an exciting one. Nguyen, who will turn 34 in October has enjoyed quite the productive career in the MLS with well over 54 goals, 58 assists, and over 244 appearances since his debut in the MLS back in 2012.

Lee Nguyen’s best season was with the Revs, from 2012-2017, Nguyen quickly became a fan favorite after accumulating 51 goals and 49 assists. Back in 2014, The Revolution got to the league’s final game and lost to the LA Galaxy.

Nguyen comes to the Revolution as a much needed helping hand as midfielder Carlos Gil is currently out due to an injury that will not allow him to return for the season.

Revolution are bringing back a couple of fan favorites such as Kelyn Rowe and Seth Sinovic.

So What Else Can We Expect?

Besides the possible linkage of the Mexican soccer league and the MLS, fans can expect a new project in the works!

Yes, that’s correct! A new development project is starting this weekend called #MLSNext.

The MLS Next project allows for young talent to be able to have a platform and to develop into either MLS potential or maybe even world class. The project has received a warm-welcomed especially as we continue to see American talent arrive to massive leagues like the English Premier League and the Bundesliga.

Some of the talents we have seen get to the English Premier League are the following:

  • Cristian Pulisic: 21 year old from Hershey, PA. Currently plays for Chelsea FC.
  • DeAndre Yedlin: 27 year old from Seattle, WA. Currently plays for Newcastle FC.

In the Bundesliga, no other than Alphonso Davies!

MLS Next is an exciting program, be prepared to see more and more American talent start to pour into these leagues as the MLS continues to work on talent development.
