Breaking News: Kansas City Chiefs Sign Patrick Mahomes to Contract Extension
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes have agreed to terms on a 10-year contract extension.
Chiefs and QB Patrick Mahomes have reached agreement on a 10-year — 10-year! — contract extension that ties him to Kansas City through the 2031 season, league sources tell ESPN.

The details have yet to surface, but -as Schefter mentioned- Mahomes’s deal will now keep him in Kansas City until 2031. In addition, the deal will most likely become the richest contract in the history of the NFL.
With the Chiefs repeatedly banging the table about the fact that they wanted to get a contract with Mahomes done sooner rather than later, this should shock nobody. What should also shock nobody is that the QB’s deal will be absolutely absurd.
Patrick Mahomes had two years remaining on his contract, and he and the Chiefs are adding on 10 more, making it a a new 12-year contract in total.

Mahomes, 24, is entering his fourth year in the league and already has MVP and Super Bowl MVP awards. And based on his performance thus far, there is little doubt in my mind that he will add to that collection.

There is inherent risk in signing any player to a contract of that length, but Mahomes appears to be a generational talent. I mean, he pretty much won the MVP in what was essentially his rookie year. It really can’t get better than that: or can it? Mahomes will most definitely try to show the world that it can.
