Celtics say All-Star Jaylen Brown has been diagnosed with a torn ligament in his left wrist and is out for the remainder of the season.

I mean, what else is there really to say at this point? This Celtics season has been nothing short of underwhelming. We thought the Patriots were bad? At least the Celtics had some really good players on their roster and were in the Eastern Conference finals last year. Now? The Celtics will be LUCKY to get out of the play-in tournament without Jaylen Brown.
The 25 Points Per Game
Tell me how we’re going to make up 25 points per game? Anybody?
This was Jaylen Brown’s best scoring season of his young career to date. He was shooting .397% from three point land. Jaylen Brown brought a level of patience, yet aggressiveness on the scoring end that the Celtics needed. Especially during scoring lulls! Don’t even get me started on that.
The Second Option
We all know that Jayson Tatum is going to be option number one as the game gets into crunch time. But having Jaylen Brown as your number two option isn’t the worst thing in the world either. Brown gave you somebody that you could depend on if Tatum wasn’t getting it done. Now, whose your second option scoring? The best bet is Kemba Walker. But he has to be similar to how he was in Charlotte. Who else is there really? Evan Fournier now that he seems to be recovering better from COVID? I guess that’s the next best option. After that, there aren’t a lot of guys that you can trust to be that reliable second option.
Call it a Season
Call it here and now. The Celtics aren’t going anywhere this year. They were always dealing with injuries. The product on the floor was vastly inconsistent. Now with Brown sidelined for the rest of the year, it might time to just pack it in. But knowing this Celtics team, they’ll probably beat the 76ers or the Nets in the first round…right? No? Okay good, glad we established that. Moving on!
In Conclusion
This just stinks. Plain and simple. Jaylen Brown will continue to be good for years to come. Hopefully 2021-2022 is much better to Jaylen health wise and team wise. Best of luck with the injury recovery Jaylen. Boston loves you and we’re looking forward to seeing you back on the court next season!
