Bad news seems to be the M.O. this year, as 2020 shocks us once again with a report that the MLB is pushing for a 48 game schedule.
MLBPA is pushing for a 82 game season. So of course, the league has to come back with a ridiculous proposal to play almost half of that.
What doesn’t make sense out of this is why would the owners go for this? All this would do is cut down on income for the league as obviously, less games means less income.
Also, this is just plain ridiculous, because it’s a joke. How in the hell can baseball teams be expected to play less games then spring training, but get into a rhythm? What if one team gets hot? What if a team struggles out of the gate? Its just dumb. Suffice to say, this year would be a joke and any championship should be viewed with as big of an Asterix as the Astros recent championship.
The question we need to ask is what is the format for the playoffs? The only reason the owners would do this is to expand the playoffs as much as possible, and make as much money off that revenue has possible.
I’m pissed but I’m a sucker for this game. I’ll be back. But I can see a lot of casual fans falling off based on this ridiculous circus show thats going on. Just my 2 cents.
