Breaking Down the Buffalo Bills 2021 Schedule

The NFL schedule came out last night and Bills Mafia was dying to look at it, so was every fanbase. Coming off one of the best seasons in franchise history, I was dying to see what Buffalo’s schedule looked like. In this article, I will break down the schedule for the Bills and give my thoughts on each game.

Weeks 1-4

Buffalo Bills will lead league in primetime games (3 NFL Schedule Release predictions) - syracuse.com

To kick off the 2021 regular season, the Bills will be hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bills have seen the Steelers the last couple of years and Buffalo has won both games in 2019 and 2020, both in primetime. This game will be at 1 pm, but it’s a good first test for the Bills to start the season. For the second straight year, the Bills will be heading down to South Florida for a Week 2 meeting against their divisional rival, the Miami Dolphins. Buffalo swept Miami last season and this is Buffalo’s first game against a divisional opponent. After Miami, the Bills will have two straight home games.

Week 3 has Buffalo hosting the Washington Football Team, who won the NFC East last year. In the offseason, the league implemented an extra week for this season. Each division will play their opposite conference based on division rankings from last season. So since both Buffalo and Washington won their respective division, they will face off. In Week 4, Buffalo will welcome the Houston Texans into town. The last time the Bills faced the Texans, it ended in heartbreak for Buffalo. Houston would eliminate Buffalo in the 2019 playoffs but both teams are heading into opposite directions, so I don’t believe revenge will be on Buffalo’s minds.

Weeks 5-9

Buffalo Bills schedule 2021: Must-watch game, record predictions and more as Josh Allen tries for a Super Bowl – The Athletic

In Week 5, Buffalo will get their first look on primetime television. Buffalo will head to the place where their 2020 season ended, Kansas City. The Bills and Chiefs will have a rematch of the AFC championship game on Sunday Night Football, in what could be a game of the year candidate. Even though last season was one to remember for Buffalo, it ended badly for them at the hands of the Chiefs. I know for a fact the team learned from that game and they will be ready to go against the team that sent them home. After Kansas City, Buffalo will be on primetime once again but this time on Monday Night Football as they will head down to Nashville for a Week 6 clash against the Titans. The Bills only lost three games last year, one of those losses came against the Titans in a blowout. I’m sure Buffalo will look to avenge that game because it was bad.

After their two primetime games, Buffalo has their bye week during Week 7. Once the bye week is over with, Buffalo will close out their season series in Week 8 against the Dolphins in Orchard Park on Halloween. In Week 9, the Bills will head down to Jacksonville to see rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars. It will be Buffalo’s first look at the first overall pick, so it will be interesting to see how that game goes.

Weeks 10-14

Calculating Josh Allen's next contract with the Buffalo Bills

In Week 10, Buffalo will meet the New York Jets for the first time this season in East Rutherford. They will see the second overall pick Zach Wilson for the first time in what could be the first of many battles between Josh Allen and Wilson. Buffalo will come back home for a rematch of the AFC wild card game last year against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11. Indy has a new quarterback in Carson Wentz in what should be a good game.

The last time the Bills were playing on Thanksgiving, it was a great time. During Week 12, Buffalo will head on down to New Orleans for a primetime matchup against the Saints on Thanksgiving. With Drew Brees gone, it will be intriguing to see how the Saints perform without the future hall of famer.  The Bills will be on Monday Night Football once again in Week 13 as they will host the New England Patriots. Buffalo met New England last year on Monday Night Football but that game was in Foxborough. Week 14 is going to be interesting as Buffalo will head back down to the sunshine state as they will take on an old foe. They will see Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in what could be a Super Bowl preview.

Weeks 15-18

Buffalo Rumblings, a Buffalo Bills community

To wrap up the last few weeks of the regular season, Buffalo will host the Carolina Panthers in Week 15. The dates and times are to be determined but going by the last couple of years, the game is most likely going to be on primetime. The Bills will see old friend Sam Darnold for the first time on his new team as well. Buffalo will be on the road for the last time this season as they will head to Foxborough to wrap up the season series against the Patriots in Week 16.

The Bills will wrap up their season at home for the last two weeks of the season. First up, a battle in Week 17 against the Atlanta Falcons. Week 18 has the Bills squaring off against the Jets to conclude the 2021 regular season.

Final Thoughts

I know it’s only May but football season will be here before you know it. Bills fans have waited a long time for a good football team and with last year being great, I’m sure the Mafia is looking forward to this season. I can’t wait for this season and hopefully it ends with Buffalo holding up the Lombardi trophy.
