Boston Red Sox: Kiké Hernández with five hits in win over the Rays
Kiké Hernández had a historic night for the Red Sox on Friday night. Hernández recorded five hits in the 14-6, Game 2 win over the Rays.
The 30-year-old Hernández went five-for-six with a home run, three doubles and a single. He also drove in three runs and scored three runs in the win.

Kiké Hernández thrives in the postseason
Hernández becomes the first player since former Yankees’ slugger Hideki Matsui to slug five hits in a postseason game. The utilityman had four extra-base hits in the game.

The Red Sox as a team had 20 hits during Game 2, after being held scoreless in Game 1.
“For us it wasn’t win or go home, but that was sort of the mentality,” said Hernández following the game.
“We came in with a sense of urgency and we needed to win this game in order for us to have a chance to win this series. We stole won here in Tampa and now we’re going back to Fenway with a best of three series with home field advantage. I like it,” added Hernández.

The series shifts to Boston on Sunday where the Red Sox will turn to Nathan Eovaldi. The right-hander is coming off his start on Tuesday where the Sox defeated the Yankees in the AL Wild Card game.
Eovaldi will be opposed by Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen. Game 2 will Rasmussen’s first career postseason start. The Red Sox will hope the crowd will be as loud and passionate as they were against the Yankees.
