Big Moment Missed

What was expected to be a defining moment for Cam Newton ended when the star quarterback tested-positive for the Covid-19 virus. The New England Patriots were to travel to Kansas City to face off against the defending Super Bowl champs, Kansas City Chiefs. For both teams, the game had meaning. For the Patriots, a huge test to see if they could compete against, most likely, the best team in the NFL.  For the Chiefs, to continue their superior play as defending Super-Bowl champions.

Cam Newton will be inactive for weeks to come as he tested positive for COVID-19. This moment was going to be significant for the former MVP, as he is continuing to prove to the league that he is still an elite Quarterback. Newton is coming off a decent game against the Las Vegas Raiders, but it was his worst game out of the three performances this season. He threw for 162 yards with one touchdown and one terrible interception.

However, the team still handled their business and got a big win before going on the road. This opportunity for Cam could have been a defining moment in his career. New team, new system, on the road, against the defending champs and arguably the best team in football. However, with Newton out, the question now who will start for the Patriots. Whoever is, they can put the Patriots on the map and show the league, despite losing Tom Brady, they are a Super Bowl contending team.

The game has been canceled to be rescheduled as all team members will now need to be tested.  Stay tune…
