Are the Red Sox and Jack Leiter a match made in heaven?
For months now, we have been wondering what the Red Sox will do with their number four overall pick in the upcoming MLB draft. One argument involved deciding between Vanderbilt teammates Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker. But that leads into my next thought. Does Jack Leiter want to come to Boston? If so, are the Red Sox and Jack Leiter a match made in heaven? Well…take a look at this.
The Red Sox and Vanderbilt ace Jack Leiter could be a "match made in heaven" at pick No. 4, according to @fangraphs latest mock draft:https://t.co/ngEZuZIxR5

So this makes me extremely happy for obvious reasons. Do you not see it like I do? That’s fine, let me break it down for you.
The Numbers at Vanderbilt
During the 2021 season, Jack Leiter dominated at a member of the Commodores. He was 10-3 in his past season with a 2.16 ERA. That not good enough for you? How about 156 strikeouts in 96 innings with only 41 walks? That change your mind yet? The bottom line is that Leiter is a bonafide ace on a top team in the country. He has a plus fastball with a slider that has tremendous break on it. The Red Sox could use a top, young arm in the farm system…just saying!
The Red Sox and Jack Leiter are a Match Made in Heaven because He Wants to Be Here!
I wouldn’t blame Jack Leiter in this scenario. The Pittsburgh Pirates are a dumpster fire that can never figure it out. Texas? They may be looking at Jordan Lawler as their shortstop of the future. The Detroit Tigers? They might take Kumar Rocker if the Pirates don’t take either Vanderbilt pitcher. The Red Sox are in a much better position than the three teams ahead of them in the draft. Give me the odds of Leiter ending up here!
In Conclusion
Are the Red Sox and Jack Leiter a match made in heaven? I definitely think so! Leiter is coming from a top collegiate baseball program in the country. The Red Sox have been one of the most successful teams in the 21st century. He wants to win. Bring him to a winning culture, a good young core, and a solid manager in Alex Cora. Works for me! Make it happen, Chaim Bloom.
