Talk about counting your chickens before they hatch, man. Antonio Brown dropped this video on Twitter today thanking “SteelerNation” and the guy still technically plays for the team.
Look, he’s essentially tossed gas on the bridge he has with the Steelers and has taken a blow torch to it so there’s no chance in hell that this guy makes a return to Pittsburgh next season. The drama around this entire situation has been wild and I mean, I guess I don’t completely blame him?
The fact of the matter is that we don’t really know what’s going on inside of the walls of Heinz Field. Antonio Brown went rogue at the end of the season, skipped the walkthrough prior to the Steelers’ week 17 matchup with the Bengals, said he was good to play but head coach Mike Tomlin had him shut down. And it seems like it was for good reason.
Brown clearly gave up on the team at the end of the year and with how everything unfolded, how could you remotely believe that he’ll suit back up in black and gold next fall?
Brown sees it that way too, clearly, with this video.
So where will he land? I’ve read some speculation online that his trade value has dropped because essentially he’s been a pain in the ass to put it lightly. And sure, a fractured relationship with your organization could potentially hurt any trade value, but AB is so talented that I think someone can and will offer a first-round pick for the rights to the elite receiver.
If a first-round pick can’t get it done, I doubt it drops below a second rounder. What this guy can do on the field, in the right situation, with the right coaches, with the right quarterback… Is astronomical. See what I’m hinting at here?
Bill Belichick, it’s your time to shine, buddy! The Patriots have a handful of picks in early rounds in the 2019 NFL draft. How about we throw a few towards Pittsburgh and make this thing happen?
I’d be shocked if Pittsburgh pulled the trigger and made a deal with New England, because, you know, they own them. But then again, I said the same thing about the Cavs trading Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics. And now look where they are? A disappointing season with some bad chemistry.
And breaking news as I type this, Antonio Brown has officially requested a trade from the Steelers per Adam Schefter.
Antonio Brown has not been traded nor has he been released. But Brown wants a trade and he officially has requested that from the Steelers, per source.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) February 12, 2019
