Am I Worried About the Celtics?
Quite simply, the answer is no.
Despite going 1-5 since the All-Star break, I’m still not worried about this team. Now don’t get me wrong here, I’ve wanted to jump off a bridge after every one of these losses. It’s been really hard to watch this team over the last few weeks. But the Celtics are hands-down the most talented team in the Eastern Conference. At the end of the day, talent triumphs everything in this league. The 76ers were the hottest team in the league going into last post-season. And what happened to them? They got their shit kicked in by the hospital Celtics in 5 games. The better team is always going to win a 7 game series in basketball, that’s just how it works.
Other than seeding, the Celtics record at the end of the season won’t make a difference come playoff time. You know why? Because 16 teams are going to start with a clean slate. 0-0. All I need to see from this team going down the stretch is a bit of consistency in the chemistry department, which wasn’t an issue earlier in the year. Once they find that, it’s a wrap. And they’re going to do it, I just know it.
They may be underachieving right now, but at this point, I’ve got nothing but faith in my guys to make a deep playoff run. Kyrie is too good. Tatum is too good. Horford is too good. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. They’re going to put it together, and we’re all going to look back at this season and laugh about how much we’ve been spazzing over the last few weeks. Everyone just needs to chill and let them figure it out.
