LETS GOOOOOO BABY. Nothing is official yet, but all signs are pointing towards Alex Cora being named the next manager of the Boston Red Sox after the ALCS. From what I understand one of this guys biggest strengths is his ability to connect with his players, a spot where John Farrell struggled during his time in Boston.
When taking a look at all of the candidates interviewed by Dombrowski, this is the guy who makes the most sense. He is a young, up and coming manager who strives at communicating with younger players. That’s exactly what this young Red Sox team needs, somebody they can relate with.
Cora also played for the Red Sox under Terry Francona from 2005-2008, so he knows what it’s like to be in Boston. That’s one of the most important things about him in my eyes. Some guys don’t know what they’re getting themselves into when they come into this market, it’s good to know Cora will be familiar with the media and the fans.
For now, we have to wait for the official word. But the post-Farrell era is already looking bright with this hiring.
