AFC Divisional Round Preview (Cincinnati Vs Tennessee)

We have a very interesting AFC Divisional round matchup on Saturday afternoon. The matchup is between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Tennessee Titans. Cincinnati is coming off of their first playoff win since 1990. While the Titans are coming off of the bye. This matchup should be a very interesting one and it is a good start to the Divisional Round of playoff games. With that being said here is my preview for this AFC Divisional round matchup.

Cincinnati:

The Bengals are riding high after their playoff win against the Raiders. Cincinnati is going to take that momentum on the road against the Titans and look to win their first road playoff game in franchise history. This offense is going to rely heavily on Joe Burrow getting the job done in this one. Burrow last week threw for 244 passing yards to go along with 2 passing touchdowns in his playoff debut. The Burrow/Chase duo connected nine times for 116 passing yards as well. Tennessee gives up 245.2 passing yards per game. This bodes very well for the Bengals offense. However, the Bengals will need to try and get Joe Mixon more involved this week in the offense. With no Joe Mixon, this offense becomes very one dimensional and teams figure out how to stop you sooner rather than later.

Defensively, the Bengals just need to make Ryan Tannehill beat them. The Bengals are very good against the run and with Derrick Henry back probably not at 100 percent, the Bengals should take advantage and stack the box. If they stack the box and put a ton of pressure on Ryan Tannehill, the Titans offense is going to struggle. Look for the Bengals to try and make an impact again defensively as they will need another good performance from them.

Tennessee:

Good news for Tennessee Titans fans is that Derrick Henry will be playing in this divisional round matchup. Bad news, I don’t think he is going to be 100 percent for this game. The offense at the beginning of the season ran through Henry. Now since Henry has been out, we have seen the reemergence of A.J. Brown. After being banged up the majority of the year, Brown has looked like his old self since the Thursday night football game against the 49ers. This offense will need Henry to create a mystery on what they are going to do. However, don’t discount their top receiver making a big impact against a secondary that is known for giving up a ton of yards.

Defensively, this run defense is top two in the league at rushing yards allowed per game. However, their passing defense has been abysmal from time to time this season as well. Against a great passing attack like Cincinnati has, Tennessee can’t afford to be lackluster in this one. I think the playoff Tennessee defense will make their return, but it is hard not to worry about a passing attack that has been mediocre this year.

Prediction:

The Tennessee Titans are 3.5 point favorites with the over/under set at 47.5. I lean the Bengals with the points here, as I am worried about Henry not being 100 percent. I think Tennessee does win this game, but the Bengals can easily keep this very very close. My official play on this is over 47.5. I think these two teams are going to put up points and I think we get a high scoring affair in Tennessee on Saturday. Ride the over ladies and gentleman, it will be a fun ride to the promise land.
