A Simple List to Bring Tom Brady Back to the Patriots

We all want Tom Brady back on the Patriots in 2020, right? Okay good, glad we all are in agreement there! Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get down to business here. The Patriots aren’t getting Brady back if they bring back the same offensive “weapons” as last season. I wouldn’t blame Brady if that same team came back. There isn’t much there to work with in the first place. So listen up everybody. I have a simple list that should entice Tim Brady to return to New England for good.

Sign Hunter Henry OR Austin Hooper

The first step is signing an actual tight end. No more Ryan Izzo. No more Matt LaCosse. Thank you Benjamin Watson, but it’s time to get a legit tight end. Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper are two names that stand out. Hooper will probably get more attention as teams like the Packers and Redskins are primed to make a strong run at him. If Hooper is off the market, go get Hunter Henry. Honestly, Henry might be the more viable option for the Patriots. He’s 25 years old and still a risk for injuries. After all, he missed the entire 2018 season. But, when he’s on the field, he’s a huge asset. In 12 games last season with the Chargers, Henry had five touchdown receptions. The Patriots desperately need a tight end. Hunter Henry will look to prove he can still play at a high level. What are we missing here?

Trade Mohamed Sanu and a First Round Pick to the Vikings for Stefon Diggs

I’m giving full credit of this idea to my Legends Lingo podcast co-host Fiesta. He suggested this and the more I think about it, the more I believe it’s a fantastic and realistic idea. Stefon Diggs is unhappy in Minnesota.

The Patriots have Mohamed Sanu who is coming off of a somewhat disappointing tenure. There still is one year left on Sanu’s contract. Why not flip that and a first rounder to bolster your receiving core? Brady would LOVE to throw to Diggs. After all, Diggs is an underrated route runner and I’m sure he’d love to play with Brady as well. The only concern I’d have if I’m the Vikings is how sturdy Sanu’s ankle will be in 2020. If the Patriots can make it happen, then give me Diggs in a New England uniform NOW!

Julian Edelman is Brady’s favorite target to throw to consistently. Edelman even had close to 100 catches last season…while playing at least half of the season hurt. He couldn’t lift his arm over his shoulder. That’s how bad he was injured. The off-season should help Edelman get back to 100% health. Get Edelman healthy and that’s already a step in the right direction for the Patriots.

In Conclusion

These are the more realistic and viable options. Sure, Odell could be a trade target. But the Browns would be asking for several first round picks. Antonio Brown is out there still. But…I think we all know how that went the first time around. If the offense next year for Brady is a healthy Edelman, N’Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers, Diggs, and Henry/Hooper…now we’re talking. Brady would be moronic to leave if that’s what the Patriots can do for him. It’s up to the Patriots now. Bolster the offense, bring back Brady, be back in Super Bowl contention for Super Bowl LV. I like that thinking, let’s go with that!
