Well, it’s the day that Celtics’ fans have been waiting for a while now, Draft Day. With the Celtics now picking 3rd, the trade rumors have been swirling over the past few days. So while you wait around for the Draft to start, here are 3 trades that the Celtics could pull off tonight. Let’s go!
Boston: 5th Pick, 10th Pick, Willie Cauley-Stein
Sacramento: 3rd Pick, Terry Rozier
People lost their minds when the Celtics traded down from 1st to 3rd. But it wouldn’t shock me if the Celtics traded down again. The Kings have the 5th and the 10th and have been rumored to move up in the draft. By trading the 3rd and Rozier, the Celtics can potentially add 3 lottery picks. Cauley-Stein is just 23 years old, and adding two top 10 picks would continue load the Celtics up with young talent. If you’re the Kings, you move up to 3 and add Josh Jackson next to Buddy Hield and you have two true building blocks.
Boston: Jimmy Butler
Chicago: 3rd Pick, ’18 LAL 1st Round Pick, Jae Crowder, Tyler Zeller
While the first trade had Boston staying the course and continue the rebuild, this one has them taking a step forward and accelerating the process. It appears Jimmy Butler will be finally traded this offseason at some point. Minnesota, Cleveland, and now Boston are all interested and Boston has the most assets to get him. Getting 2 potential lottery picks and Jae Crowder allows the Bulls to start over and the if the Celtics can get Butler without giving up next year’s Brooklyn pick, you do it.

Boston: Kristaps Porzingis, Carmelo Anthony
New York: 3rd Pick, 37th Pick, Marcus Smart, Jae Crowder, Tyler Zeller
Here is the monster of all trades and believe it or not, it’s not that crazy. As you see in the tweet above, Phil Jackson is indeed shopping Kristaps Porzingis. The fact that this is even a possibility is nuts and the Celtics have to jump on this. Part of the reason the Knicks are dangling Porzingis is because they want to get rid of Melo and his contract. By doing this trade, the Knicks get Josh Jackson, a young point guard in Marcus Smart, and Jae Crowder to go along with the 8th overall pick. That is how the Knicks begin the rebuild. If you’re the Celtics, you get a 21 year old superstar in the making. Anthony is a risk to bring in, but if it gets me Porzingis; I do it every time.
