15 wins in a row – Liverpool rules the Premier League

The 19/20 Premier League season has continued this weekend in much the same fashion as previous weekends. The results of match-day 6 show you why this league is the most popular in world soccer.

Leicester continued their impressive hunt for a Champions League spot with a victory over Tottenham. A win that takes them into third spot. Harry Kane’s stumbling, striker’s finish was ruled out first by Pereira and then a tidy finish by James Maddison gave Leicester all 3 points. The young Englishman is supposedly a target for struggling Manchester United once the transfer window reopens.
Tottenham now find themselves in 7th, but only  3 points behind a top 4 spot. Aurier continues to put in disappointing performances for Tottenham on the right hand side of their defense. There is plenty of talent in the middle of the park for Spurs but they seem to struggle to turn that into consistent performances. Son and Kane again showed themselves as Tottenham’s best players, Spurs fans should pray that those two remain injury free this season.

Kane Vs Leicester

Manchester United continued their abysmal away form with a lack luster performance against West Ham. West Ham are now sitting in pretty in 5th while Man Utd sit below Tottenham in 8th. With each passing game it becomes clear that this Manchester United squad is painfully lacking in both talent and heart. McTominay, James and Wan Bissaka are the only players in the squad who look anything like Manchester United players. Rashford has bucket loads of ability but his composure and temperament let him down time and time again. Now it looks like a groin injury may keep him off the field for the foreseeable future. Lindelof lacks the strength of a proper center back. Matic is too slow for the Premier League. Do I need to go on? These players need to reevaluate if they have what it takes to play for this club. I have faith in Ole, but he has a hell of a job ahead of him.

Disappointingly for Manchester United fans, their blue rivals continue to be a force in English football. In my opinion this Man City team is the best team the Premier League has ever seen. If they can lift a European trophy they’ll be the best team on the planet. An 8-0 victory over Watford says nothing about Watford and everything about Manchester City. A rampant team of superstars, coached by one of the best football brains to ever grace the game. David and Bernardo Silva, Aguero, De Bruyne and Sterling are all valid answers for the best player in the Premier League right now.

Man City Vs Watford

This Liverpool team are perhaps the only team in the last 20 years that could match Manchester City. What a privilege to watch them battling it out for the Premier League trophy. Although Chelsea pushed them all the way, rattling them with a spectacular second half goal. Liverpool held on to get another 3 points. 15 wins in a row now for a Liverpool team that are beyond desperate to win their first Premier League trophy. Where Manchester City are a team of superstars who play soccer like its surgery, Liverpool’s team play with pure grit and heart. Salah, Firmino and Mane are three of the most dangerous attackers on the planet. But what the rest of the team lacks in expensive signings it more than makes up for in desire and chemistry.

Despite a weekend that involved a Liverpool v Chelsea game and an 8-0 win for Man City. It was Arsenal vs Aston Villa that takes match of the weekend for me. Arsenal were losing for most of the match. Between the 20th minute and the 84th minute they trailed. A first half red card for Maitland Niles only made their job more difficult. But two goals in 3 minutes from Arsenal meant that they took home the three points. A brilliant match and an amazing comeback victory for 10-man Arsenal. Despite the impressive victory, I still can’t see Arsenal having the longevity and ability to seriously contend for a trophy this season.

My goal of the weekend is from everyone’s favorite player, N’Golo Kante. A wonderful slalom run ended with a perfectly placed side foot shot that gave Adrian no chance.
