Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers make All-star team for Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox are over the halfway point in their season. They’re fighting to keep their top Wild Card spot in the American League. All the while going through a brutal stretch of games against the Yankees and the Rays. With the All-star game coming up soon, it’ll be a mini break for most of the Red Sox players before the second half of their season. But two Red Sox players will be All-stars for the 2022 Summer Classic: Rafael Devers (starter) and Xander Bogaerts (reserve).

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Devers has blossomed into one of the best young hitters in the entire MLB. Devers is currently hitting .327 with 19 homeruns and 51 RBI’s. This is the second time that the third baseman has been selected to the AL All-star team. Devers at times has led the Red Sox single-handedly from an offensive perspective. His defense has improved a tremendous amount in 2022, compared to where he was when he first came up to the Red Sox in 2017. This isn’t the last time we will see Rafael Devers in the All-star game either. Hopefully, the next one will be with the Boston Red Sox. (Sign him, Chaim!)

Xander Bogaerts is an All-Star reserve. Bogaerts and Devers (starting third baseman) are your lone Sox All-Stars in 2022.

Xander Bogaerts is a reserve for the AL All-star team. He’s hitting .311 with seven homeruns and 35 RBIs. He also continuously shows why he is one of the best defensive shortstops in the American League. Bogaerts gets the nod in a time where his Red Sox future is uncertain. He could get traded at the deadline. Maybe he even gets the extension we all hope for! But regardless, Bogaerts finds himself on the All-star team for the fourth time in his big league career.
In Conclusion
Congrats to Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers! Well deserved All-star bids for the left side of the infield. Hopefully, the production shows up in the second half of the season as the Red Sox continue to fight through the gauntlet that is the A.L. East.
