Who Would You Rather Have: Odell Beckham Jr. or Allen Robinson?
It’s rumor season already baby! LET’S GOOOOOOOOO! We know that the New England Patriots could use a boost to their receiving core. Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry will be productive, don’t get me wrong. But they need more than that for Cam Newton to be successful. There are two big names that could be on the receiving market potentially. That would be Cleveland Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Chicago Bears receiver Allen Robinson.
Brandon Parker, agent for Bears’ WR Allen Robinson, said he and his client have not requested a trade. However Robinson, who is in the last year of his contract, is unhappy that Chicago has been unwilling to pay him market value for wide receivers.

The Contract Situation
If you love a longer contract, then you should be rooting for OBJ in this scenario. Beckham Jr. is not slated to become an unrestricted free agent until 2024. Robinson is in the final year of his contract with the Bears. I don’t know about you. But I’d rather take my chances on a guy that has three years left on his contract; as opposed to the guy that’s about to be a free agent this offseason. In this case, OBJ is probably the better option.
Being Productive
Allen Robinson might have the leg up on Odell in this situation. Robinson last season for the Bears had more receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown receptions than OBJ. Granted, it could be a little different with OBJ having to deal with Jarvis Landry in the same offense too. But overall, it looks like Robinson had a leg up on OBJ last season. Could that translate to being productive in New England? Maybe. In this case, Robinson is probably the better option.
Age
This is essentially a wash. They both entered the NFL in 2014. They’re both on their second NFL team. The only difference is that Robinson is in his age 27 season while Beckham Jr. is in his age 28 season. So they’re both still on the younger side with years left in the tank. In this case, either option is a good option.
In Conclusion
I don’t have a real preference one way or the other. If I had to absolutely pick one, I might go OBJ just because of the three years remaining on his contract. Otherwise, it is probably a toss up. Who would you want? Feel free to debate with us @CouchGuySports!
