Where does N’Keal Harry now stand with the Patriots?

It’s been a bumpy road for Patriots 2019 first round draft pick N’Keal Harry. Harry was injured during the first half of his rookie season. He played in 2020, but didn’t quite get the stats he would’ve liked to see. Some are even wondering if Harry is a huge bust for the Patriots. Well, the latest injury update on Harry won’t help his case at all. Ian Rapoport reported the other day that the Patriots wide receiver will be out four weeks. So if this is the case, where does this leave N’Keal Harry now with the Patriots?

The Patriots Trade N’Keal Harry?

This has always been an option. Keep in mind, his agent requested a trade earlier in the off-season. So it isn’t something that is completely off the table yet, in my opinion. Look at the receiving core that the Patriots have in place. Jakobi Meyers looks like he’s becoming the number one receiving option. Kendrick Bourne will add some value in the slot. Nelson Agholor will be a deep threat. Where does this leave Harry in the grand scheme of things? Maybe as a goal line presence to use his body in a one on one physical situation with a defender? Other than that, I don’t know how N’Keal fits in this offense.

So then, that creates the opportunity for a potential trade. Maybe look at a team like Arizona and see if they would give up Andy Isabella in a trade package? It’s possible. Bottom line, a trade could be on the horizon for Harry.

Cut Him?

To me, this is the worse of the two options. You can get his contract off the books, but what good would it do? You’re wasting a first round draft pick that is still very young. At least try to get SOME value out of him. If they cut Harry when he’s healthy and he produces for another team, that’s a HUGE L for the Patriots.

In Conclusion

This shoulder injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for N’Keal Harry. He needs to be on the field to show he can be productive. Without being on the field, it doesn’t do him any good. So hopefully he heals quickly and gets back out on the field. But for now, it’s a waiting game for Harry and the Patriots.
