What Was Javon Wims Doing?

There was a lot of action across the NFL on Sunday. The Cincinnati Bengals upset the Tennessee Titans, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens to improve to 7-0, and the Denver Broncos led a ferocious comeback against the Los Angeles Chargers.

There were a ton of other things that happened, but one of the stranger events to occur was in the Chicago Bears matchup with the New Orleans Saints. In the second-half of their game, a fight broke-out between Bears wide receiver Javon Wims and Saints cornerback Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. But just typing that doesn’t do this “fight” justice. Therefore, I will let the video do the talking.

Actually, what in the hell is Wims doing? Apparently, Wims was responding to Gardner-Johnson putting his finger in the helmet of Bears teammate Anthony Miller. I still don’t think that warranted that type of reaction.

I am all for defending your teammate, but what Wims did was straight up stupid. It wasn’t like Gardner-Johnson attacked Miller the play before. Who knows if the corner said anything heinous to Miller, but Wims acted as if the defensive back knocked up his girlfriend or something. Wims ran up to him like he was ready to take on Mike Tyson!

It is also worth mentioning that this was one big-time cheap shot. Wims taps C.G.J. on the chest (some people believe a chain was snatched) just for him to turn so you could sock him? Based on Gardner-Johnson’s Instagram, he was clearly unbothered by it, but the entire sequence still has me confused as all hell.

I truly don’t know what else to say except that Wims should maybe get cut? I don’t know. That play didn’t help the Bears one bit. I guess time will tell, but we might have to wait until next Sunday to see if Wims still suits up for Chicago.
