What Tom Brady Meant to Me as a Football and Patriots Fan
As I have been able to gather my thoughts over the very recent retirement of Tom Brady, I decided I would write a story on the impact he has had on me and an entire generation.
I have had the pleasure of growing up rooting for the single greatest quarterback the league has ever seen.
A Quarterback of Seven Super Bowl Titles, 10 total Super Bowl appearances, and 22 magnificent years.
Now an era has officially come to a close, and a generation’s childhood officially ends.
I could go into his accomplishments more though, but you will see that a lot, so, today, I figured I would dive into what the legendary QB meant to me.
What Tom Brady Meant to Me…
I get a lot of crap for “growing up in a generation of Patriots fans that had it easy”. Obviously, I have no control over that, but growing up and being able to witness the trials and tribulations of Tom Brady has been amazing. Seeing my favorite franchise win SIX Super Bowls and being an absolute goliath in the league was something I will be able to share and keep with me for the rest of my life.
Now yes, I won’t exactly remember the 01, 03, or 04 Super Bowls, I was born in 1997, I was still driving my Power Wheels Jeep around the yard, living a carefree life.
Although I will admit 07 and 11 are hazy for me, because that was before I really got into sports, I digress. Obviously, as Patriots fans we want to forget 07 and 11. I am in the same boat, but those two losses meant something because they were able to come back stronger and win in 14, 16, and 18.
He helped orchestrate the greatest comeback in NFL history and closed out the Patriots Dynasty with a nail-biting win over the Los Angeles Rams.
What Tom Brady Meant to Me… Part II
It is tough to put into words what Tom Brady has meant to me. He is one of the two sports figures that got me into sports. (David Ortiz being the other). He was one of the main reasons that I fell in love with the sport of football.
It hurt a lot seeing him leave in 2019, but all good things must come to an end, and like most Patriots fans, I cheered him on as he won his seventh and final title in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers.
Tom Brady meant a lot to me, and seeing him go out on his own terms is the best, I will forever be thankful for what he has done to the sport of football, and for the New England Patriots Organization.
Final Thoughts…
We will never see another Quarterback like Tom Brady again. In fact, we may never see someone reach the level that he did. The man played till he was 44, which is unheard of, let alone he put up MVP-like numbers at that age.
From pick 199 to Seven Super Bowl Titles, and multiple records. Tom Brady will forever be cemented as the best to have ever done it in the game of Football.
So, with that said, I want to end this by saying Thank You Tom Brady. for giving my generation of football and sports fans in general one of the greatest careers we will ever see.
As Tom Brady announces the end of his NFL career, here is our essay on the one aspect of it that we can all agree on. I hope it brings back as many memories for you as it did for me writing it. pic.twitter.com/WVBo5P287c
