What is next for FC Barcelona?

I really feel for the fans of FC Barcelona, even as a Real Madrid fan. The past few days have brought a lot of turmoil and the last year or so, have brought a lot of disappointment for a team that is more than just another soccer club.

Barcelona is facing their toughest moment so far. 2020 going into the 2021 campaign might be their turning point, or possibly, their biggest collapse!

Allow me to bring you up to speed and share some of the changes happening and expected to happen.

2019-2020 Campaign

The 2020 campaign for Barcelona was set for success, especially as the club continued to invest in its future.

La Liga started and Barcelona had the most amazing team in paper assembled in a long time. Signings like Antoinne Griezmann as well as Ousmane Dembele were some of the most sensational signings and yet the team’s chemistry was not all there.

Speed forward, where the club makes a managerial decision and decides to let go of Ernesto Valverde! They replace him with Quique Setien and continue their year.

Up until last week, there was still hope for Barcelona, even as the future was still a concern. Then, there came their biggest upset in history after facing a powerful Bayern Munich team that showed so much grit and crushed them in the Champions League tournament.

Bayern’s performance was incredible and in a way felt the same way as the shockwave that Germany sent to the world when they defeated Brazil at home during World Cup competition, 7-1.

You could only imagine the incredibly miserable commentary after that game from some of the players! In example…

So as Pique reminded us, the club clearly needs “changes and a revamping of their dynamic”, leading to speculations for change to come.

So What Are The Changes For Barca 2021?

Social Media and fans around the world are calling for Barcelona to find their identity and to find ways to go back to the top.

The misery fans currently have with their team is unbearable, some are even calling for their main superstar, Lionel Messi to leave the club for good.

One of the changes the club has made was letting go Quique Setien after 7 months despite showing improvements.

Now What Else Can Be Expected?

One of the main expectations are for Ronald Koeman to be announced as the new head coach.

Meanwhile, some of the other expectations are for a gigantic clear out to happen!

My thoughts are that players like Pique, Messi, Luis Suarez, amongst others will leave too.

In Conclusion…

With so much happening around Barcelona and even Real Madrid, expect for the Spanish League to see some major changes!

Stay tune and be on the look out for a #SoccerSaturdays update this Saturday from me with more updates for you.
