What A Wild First Day For The Celtics In NBA Free Agency

NBA free agency opened up yesterday and let me tell you something folks, it was absolutely BANANAS! Deals were being made left and right. Adrian Wojnarowski was firing off tweet after tweet. Players were on the move rapidly. It was so much fun to watch. The Celtics were one team that a lot of people had eyes on the whole day. All I can say is, what a first day in free agency it was for our beloved Boston Celtics.

Kyrie Irving Officially Signs With The Nets

This was the most obvious move that was going to happen. The Kyrie Irving in Boston era is over (Thank God!) and now he will head to the Nets on a four year, max. deal. This was written on the wall for months now and it finally happened. Kevin Durant will also be joining the Nets on a four year, 164 million dollar deal. This will make the Nets a big favorite in the Eastern Conference during the 2020-2021 season, when he returns from his Achilles injury. But back to Irving for a second, it was the right move for both sides. The Celtics wanted a different direction and Kyrie wanted the heck out of Boston. If you think I’m upset about this in any way, shape, or form, you might want to check this out.

Yeah, have fun with a team that was similar to the Celtics this next upcoming season Kyrie!

Al Horford Signs With the 76ers

Ouch! This is a punch right to the stomach. Al Horford agreed to a four year, 109 million dollar deal last night with the rival Philadelphia 76ers. Horford was loved in the city of Boston and people were hoping for the chance to bring him back, at any cost. There were rumors of sign and trade deals that could help keep Horford in Boston. Unfortunately, those all fell through. Horford is a true pro and he went for the money at this stage of his career. Thank you for everything you gave to the city of Boston, Al. Hope you get your money and a championship thrown in there as well. (After the Celtics win their next one, of course!)

Kemba Walker is Officially A Boston Celtic

Let’s end this article with some good news, shall we? Kemba Walker is officially a Boston Celtic after signing a four year, 141 million dollar deal. I’m excited for this guy to put on a Celtic uniform, and the rest of you should be excited as well. Kemba seems like a very genuine, humble, and soft-spoken leader. Just take a look at his article in the Players Tribune.

He shows Charlotte so much love and welcomes the new challenge that awaits for him in Boston. Something tells me Kemba Walker is going to work out great in Boston.

In Conclusion

A lot went down for the Celtics yesterday in free agency. There are still a lot of moves to be made though. The Celtics need a few big men and that will be Danny Ainge’s next task as the summer months come and go. Something tells me this Celtics team in 2019-2020 will be fun to watch again. Just wait!
