NFL Week 4 Recap

Around The NFL in Week 4

The Week 4 NFL games have come and gone, with a few things finally back to normal. The Kansas City Chiefs no longer have a losing record after scoring 42 points against Philadelphia and evening up their 2021 campaign to 2-2. The Carolina Panthers got tagged with their first loss but battled back at Dallas in a high scoring affair 36-28. The Dak train was too strong for the Panther defense as his MVP campaign has reached a new height with yet another great performance.

The Buffalo Bills lost their opening game to the Steelers and since have stream rolled back to an AFC favorite as they beat the Texans 40-0 and improve to 3-1. Green Bay also improved to 3-1 with a statement win at home against the Steelers. Next Sunday Night will be a marquee matchup as the Bills head to Kansas City for some prime time football.

The Cardinals and Rams were in store for a high scoring game that went back and forth all day at SoFi Stadium. Arizona is now 4-0 on the young year and looks to have complete control of the NFC West. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens were too much for the Denver Broncos and rolled into Mile High and controlled the game from start to finish resulting in a 23-7 win.

Pats / Bucs

The Sunday Night game was nothing short of a fantastic story line for week 4 of the NFL. Tom Brady returning home to New England in prime time. The weather was a consistent rain, effecting both offenses and leading to a lot of short plays. Both teams played great defense that resulted in a low scoring game of 19 to 17. The team that ran the ball better came out on top and what a game it was. Coming down to a field goal hitting the upright and being no good. The Patriots have a must win game to salvage their season as they head to Houston to take on the Texans. The Bucs will play at Miami next week who is desperate to get another win after losing three straight.

MVP Race

At this point, the NFL season is only about 25% complete. Regardless, it’s time to start the MVP conversation – I will keep the list short to a limit of five. For now…

1.) Kyler Murray – Undefeated team. Impossible to stop. Offense is averaging 35.0 PPG.

2.) Tom Brady – Tom has already thrown for 1,356 yards in just four games. 10 TDs / 2 INTs on the season.

3.) Lamar Jackson – No running backs? No problem. Lamar is back to his MVP self and has the Ravens poised for a Super Bowl run.

4.) Aaron Rodgers – After a bad week one the 2020 MVP is making it look too easy. Rodgers has thrown for 900 yards with 8 TDs / 2 INTs.

5.) Patrick Mahomes – As bad as the defense is, Mahomes still finds a way. 14 TDs in just four games has him on pace to throw for 56+ TDs in 2021. Could be another record breaking season especially with the defense allowing 31.3 PPG.
