Week 10 Recap: Pats SHOCK Ravens at Gillette 23-17

Week 10 has officially come and gone for the New England Patriots. They needed a win to essentially keep their season alive. Their opponent? None other than Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens entered the game 6-2 and looking to climb up the power rankings after Sunday night. However, it was the Patriots that prevailed as they shocked the Ravens at home with a 23-17 victory.

Not going to lie to you all, I had the Ravens winning this game 24-10. But of course, you have to be happy with a Patriots win! The win improves them to 4-5 on the season as they head to Houston next week to take on the 2-7 Texans. Before we focus on Houston, let’s see what went well against Baltimore.

Jakobi Meyers Does it All!

Jakobi Meyers continues to impress this season for the Patriots. He had five receptions for 59 yards and even threw a 24 yard touchdown pass to Rex Burkhead on a trick play. It seems like the Patriots found something with Jakobi Meyers. Not only is his receiving becoming more dependable week by week, but now we realize he has a solid arm? That’s something to keep an eye on moving forward. The Patriots like versatile players. Meyers is showing his versatility in more ways than one and it showed again last night.

J.C. “Mr. INT” Jackson

For those of you counting at home, that’s FIVE straight games that J.C. Jackson has an interception. That’s also a franchise record. It’s great to see Jackson being successful, especially with Stephon Gilmore banged up. This was crucial as it looked like Baltimore would either tie the game or even take the lead into halftime. A big bail out on a bad Lamar Jackson decision secured another INT for J.C. Jackson. When will quarterbacks learn not to throw his way? Bad things happen!

Damien Harris

Damien Harris is the Pats number one running back now. It’s not even a debate. Harris finished the game with over 120 yards. The Patriots showed that their run game would be key in this one. The O-line continues to get healthy and the results are showing. Harris runs extremely hard every play, almost like his life depends on it. This kid along with Meyers are the future for the Patriots offense. Add some other good pieces around them and they’ll be dangerous offensively once again.

No Turnovers and Mother Nature!

When the Patriots don’t turn the ball over, they usually win the game. Plain and simple. Look at Buffalo a few weeks ago. Why did they lose at the end of the game? A costly turnover by Cam! This was a game where they couldn’t turn the ball over, and they didn’t. Also, it didn’t hurt that mother nature kicked in at just the right time too. It’s hard to scramble when the ball is going all over the place. The receivers? Forget about it! They had little chance of catching those passes once the rain started opening up. Those two factors helped the Patriots in a HUGE way.

In Conclusion

The Patriots can be right back in it with a win on Sunday in Houston. Then they have Arizona, the Chargers, the Rams, and then end with the Bills, Dolphins, and Jets. Realistically, you could win a majority of those games. Don’t let Houston become a trap game though! You’re coming off a huge win against one of the best teams in the AFC. Don’t let that distract you from the fact that you have to almost win out the rest of the way to even sniff the playoffs. This game against the Ravens was a great start. Now it’s time to keep the momentum and the wins rolling.
