Twitch is a sport all in itself

With the pandemic hitting all of us pretty hard, its been a difficult task to get your mind off things. Yet gamers, and artists alike have taken their craft to streaming. Like CouchGuySports itself, we started using Twitch, the streaming channel to get some content out there.

Hey Toph, what is streaming exactly?

Glad you asked brain of mine! Streaming is a manner for a person to watch content in real time. So the content can be anything! From local music, to paintings, to video games, which seem to be the popular pick. While streaming is becoming bigger than it was, and finding new avenues to be of interest, it helps people get things off their mind, get some insight to some games, or learn a new hobby.

With streaming you can chat with other viewers, chat with the host, even become apart of the stream.  While following is a great way for you to see the creator, subscribing and offering bits can be helpful. Bits are like money you toss at your creators, and subscribing is another method of helping the creator with their channel. As a result, the streamer will show the support you offer, and integrate it back into their channel, and help the content and community grow.

How can I find streams I enjoy?

Again, another great question! You can look upon Twitch itself and just type in a game in the search bar, and click on someone playing that game. If it’s art you are looking for, type in art in the search, and see if something catches your eye. For example, I myself enjoy a few artists, such as Domo Stanton https://www.twitch.tv/domostanton a DC Comics artist and content creator who spreads enjoyment to his community and will show how they draw and some insight. Another is Moe, https://www.twitch.tv/the40yearoldpainter who is a painter/artist who is a smaller streamer, yet growing more and more. They bring a joy of great chat, a smiling face, and some amazing artwork!

Aside from artwork, there’s a great gamer community as well. From shooters to adventure, to sports! Including Matt Zappa https://www.twitch.tv/drmattzappa dropping great music on drums, and taking requests, playing Fall Guys, as well as Rocket League. Or our CouchGuySports staff doing their stream. our own Waleed has his channel https://www.twitch.tv/wallydog619 brings his talent of Pokemon, Call of Duty and Fortnite, as well as enjoying bonding with his community, and getting them involved in raids while out and about. We also have our new addition to the CouchGuySports family, Scott. Scott brings his baseball knowledge to his channel https://www.twitch.tv/dr_aquafresh slinging some MLB: The Show, along with Call of Duty! These folks do some amazing things with their community, as well as entertain, just to get you started!

Toph, Don’t you Stream?

HAHA those awesome questions again! Yes, I myself go by Angry_Turnip80 https://www.twitch.tv/angry_turnip80. I am a content creator, and a variety streamer playing many games, and enjoying building my community. I’m currently playing Fortnite, Bioshock: Remastered, Assassins Creed: Valhalla, Call of Duty, and more! I’ve also been giving my time to CouchGuy building content and having fun with some amazing sports chat and games.

But Toph, what about CouchGuySports?

You got all the best questions today! Do we have a twitch page? You betcha we do! CouchGuySports has it’s own channel https://www.twitch.tv/couchguysports along with some great content! Not only do we have great games played, we also have some podcasts hitting the couch, as well as some great new streamers coming in 2021! I mean, how can you go wrong with “Thursday Night Puck” featuring myself, our own Chris Jones, Mike Gilligan, and Josh Martin. Together we have the CGS Hockey team! Yeah, we have a losing record, yet from 7:15pm eastern til we give up, you’ll see us rolling through and having fun.

Wednesdays we include our own big wig Al Nahigian, with Matt Burnett and I as we run through some Fortnite! We hunt those DUBS and have landed at least 1 per night! But why stop there? Our own Diego Galvis spins some great tracks some nights, while also bringing the Podcast “Yellow Card Podcast” chatting soccer and giving their own commentary to soccer games.

With 2021, we step into new territory. Scott, known as Dr_Aquafresh will be bringing his gaming to CGS playing MLB the Show starting Wednesday March 3rd! He knows his fantasy baseball, and can swing a massive bat! And This Friday February 26th at 9pm, we will be having “Into the Triangle” podcast join is to enjoy some sports chat! Lets not forget Waleed, known as Wallydog619 bringing us some Call of Duty as well!

Toph’s Final Thoughts…

Yeah, life can get hectic. Yet the streamers above, as well as many others can get your mind off things. I myself enjoy getting peoples mind at ease and chatting about random things. Sometimes it can help with anxiety and all just helping getting your mind clear. It can also introduce you to new and exciting things you enjoy, and give you an outlet to enjoy.

I’ll let everyone in on a secret. I hate being in front of the camera. As long as I can remember I hated it. Yet last year I took a leap and became more involved with twitch while in quarantine. I’ve been doing this under a year, met some amazing people that have helped me along my journey, and brought me to where I am now. Its a wonderful and fun community that I myself am happy to be apart of.

So give some of those streamers a look, a follow, Definitely follow CouchGuySports on twitch! I know you won’t be disappointed!
