Tuukka Rask Getting Healthy

Boston Bruins’ goalie Tuukka Rask has been sidelined since the Bruins game against the Rangers on January 19th. Luckily for the Bruins, last week was their bye week so Rask has had some time to recover.

The Bruins played their first game after the bye week last night and suffered a shootout loss to the Winnipeg Jets 4-3. Rask is currently serving time on the IR so Halak got the start in net with McIntyre on the bench as the backup. Halak played mediocre at best and made 24 saves on the night. A new report surfaced this morning that Rask is likely to return Thursday against the Flyers.

Rask downplayed the severity of his concussion and spent his off week in the Caribbean. Although Rask hasn’t officially been named the starter for Thursday’s contest, Cassidy has stated that as long as Rask is healthy he’ll be in between the pipes.

Rask had been on fire before suffering the injury and was in the midst of a 6-0-1 run. After a tough start to the year Rask had been playing very well and considering Halak’s play has been subpar the Bruins could use Rask back in net.
