Trevor Bauer Signs with Los Angeles Dodgers
Well, it finally happened. The biggest pitching free agent on the market this offseason has finally found a new home. It was reported earlier today that Trevor Bauer has come to a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Trevor Bauer's three-year deal with the Dodgers is for $102 million guaranteed — and for $40 million in 2021 and $45 million in 2022. He can opt out after each year, meaning he'll make $40M if he opts out this year, $85M if he does so after 2022 and $102M if he stays all three.

From a first glance, it looked like Trevor Bauer made BANK in his newest deal. So with this in mind, let’s take a look at what this contract means.
Trevor Bauer Secures the Bag
Look at the numbers that Jeff Passan reported in that deal. 40 million dollars in 2021. 45 million in year two of the contract. 102 million if he sticks out all 3 years in L.A. for the duration of his deal. Trevor Bauer pitched himself to a Cy Young award with the Reds. Now? He’s sitting pretty for at least the next two seasons.

Let’s take a look at this rotation really quick, shall we? Clayton Kershaw? He’s one of the best pitchers in the game. Walker Buehler? He’s an up and coming star in the MLB. Trevor Bauer? He just won the Cy Young award last year with the lowly Cincinnati Reds. I don’t care that they made the playoffs, they’re lowly. David Price? He’s still pretty good, a World Series champion, and a Cy Young award winner in the past too. Julio Urias? He’s a top young talent coming up the pipeline. This rotation will be amazing to watch all year, so long as all of them stay healthy.
Mets Fans, Be Mad!
Bob Nightengale had Bauer to the to Mets before all of this L.A. talk went down. Do we blame Mets fans for getting mad at this? Not at all. Nightengale is supposed be a top reporter in the game. This guy gets EVERYTHING wrong. It’s an art at this point. The Mets have had it rough over the past few weeks. They could’ve used some good news!
In Conclusion
Bauer is off the market. The free agency period is about to end. Spring Training is right around the corner. Let the MLB season begin! (After Sunday after the Super Bowl of course!)
