Look at this king.

The Celtics have a glutton of fun (if not that good, honestly) rookies.
One of the stars of this group is Tremont Waters, the a guard from LSU.
Steady Handed Bucket Getter
Here he is probably about to dunk on poor Henry Ellenson.
Waters put up some good stats while leading a very fun Maine Red Claws Team.
The 5’10” point guard scored 18 ppg and 7 assists per game while chipping in 3 rebounds. Waters made 36% of his 3’s while maintaining a 2-1 assist to turnover ratio.
While his stature will always limit defensive upside, the guard showed that he make make the right reads on defense and make the right plays on offense.
What To Expect Moving Forward
Does winning this award mean we have a future star on our hands?
I wish, but I think he could be a good backup guard. Making the right plays and being able to give the offense some juice seems like where his game is going.
Any team wants a guard like that.
Waters, along with fun players like Grant Williams, Tacko Fall, and Carsen Edwards, look like a really fun group moving forward. There are almost certainly no stars in there, and frankly, probably no starters. However, bench depth is always needed and all but Tacko project into that role in a year or two.
Waters is a guard who outplayed expectations this G league season. I think, even with higher expectations moving forward, he may exceed those and help the Celtics out quite a bit next season.
