SOCCER TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY ACTION: Everything You Need To Know!

Tuesday October 5th marked the last day for European Soccer transfers until the winter break and it was a busy one!

If you don’t believe me, simply ask the team at the Yellow Card Podcast, they were busy keeping you up to date on market transfers!

English Premier League Transfers!

Soccer analysts around the world expect this league to be the best league this year for many reasons. Some teams have already done their work in the transfer market but others seriously needed to make moves. Let’s see how that action unveiled on the last day for transfers:

Everton: Defender Ben Godfrey joins from Norwich City. Everton also acquired Swedish international, Robin Olsen as a backup goalie.

Arsenal: Arsenal brought the “Partey” to London. If you are an Arsenal fan, you should be excited with this move as Thomas Partey leaves Atletico Madrid and joins Mikel Arteta’s side.

Manchester United: After a devastating loss to Tottenham, Manchester United pulled a bunch of moves!

Here are the new boys in town:

  • Amad Traore: Joining from Atalanta, the young man will add speed and creativity in the right wing for a United in desperate need of that.
  • Alex Telles: United fans had basically given up at this point. However, Solksjaer and Ed Woodward had other plans, huge move by United and added strength in the left defensive wing.
  • Facundo Pellistri: Gigantic move by United. Many don’t know about him but are in for quite the treat. The 18 year old has been a sensational wonder for Penarol in Uruguay. As an 18 year old, this center back has a gigantic future and could be the solution needed in defense for United.
  • Edinson Cavani:  The move by United has shaken the soccer world! Cavani, PSG’s previous goal scorer joins United and if you are excited for Champions League action, this signing brings that to a whole new level for group H.

Southampton: Theo Walcott returns via loan from Everton!

Leeds United: Marcelo Bielsa buys Raphinha from State Rennais adding depth to the team.

Italy’s Serie A Transfers!

The Italian league was also heavily involved in the transfer window, making serious moves too! For example:

AC Milan: The San Siro side acquired Diogo Dalot from Manchester United via loan.

AS Roma: Chris Smalling signs permanent deal leaving Manchester United.

Udinese: The Venetians acquired Gerard Deulofeu and Ignacio Pussetto from Wolves.

Inter Milan: Matteo Darmian joins via loan from Parma.

Juventus: Winger Federico Chiesa joins taking Douglas Costa’ spot.

Fiorentina: Lucas Martinez joins as a promising young talent from River Plate of Argentina.

Napoli: Tiemoue Bakayoko joins via loan from Chelsea!

BUNDESLIGA TRANSFER WINDOW ACTION:

The Bavarians added power upfront by bringing Choupo-Moting, Bayern made it very clear they weren’t messing around and added the following:

  • Douglas Costa: The Brazilian returns to Bayern having finished his spell at Juventus.
  • Bouna Sarr: The Frenchman joins Bayern from frenchside, Marseille.
  • Marc Roda: Leaves Espanyol and joins Bayern via contract!

Other team moves worth noting:

Hertha Berlin: Matteo Guendozi joins as he leaves Arsenal via season-long loan.

Werden Bremen: Davy Klaassen returns!

Hoffenheim: Ryan Sessegnon and Sebastian Rudy added to their roster.

In Conclusion:

While a lot of transfers were made, the real winners in this transfer window were Bayern and Manchester United. Now, why do I say that?

Bayern, not only did they add a great backup for Robert Lewandowski but now they also have a young core. I would watch out for them seriously!

Manchester United in the other hand, not only did they get a harsh reality check at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s emphatic Tottenham, but finally got the backing needed in order to be able to compete.

We are entering an international break. However, once everyone comes back, 2020-2021 season will be one to remember for all of us football (soccer) fans!
