Tonight’s Game Could Be A Trap Game For The Patriots

The Patriots are going to New York to take on the Jets in a Monday night football divisional matchup. A lot of people are expecting the Patriots to roll over the Jets and cruise to 7-0 on the season. If you recall in week three, the Patriots took care of business. They defeated the Jets in Foxborough with a 30-14 victory. But this time around, things might be different. This could almost be a trap game for the Patriots and here’s why.

Sam Darnold

This is NOT Luke Falk under center. The Jets have their starting quarterback in the fold once again in Sam Darnold. Darnold can be elusive in the pocket and extend plays. The main question will be if Darnold can make clutch throws in key situations. The Patriots have done a great job of getting to an opposing team’s quarterback for the first six games of their season. But this could be a tough test as Darnold looks to challenge the Patriots defense, both on and off the field.

It’s never a good thing to give the Patriots bulletin board material. We’ll see if Sam Darnold eats his words tonight.

Le’Veon Bell

Don’t make any mistake here, Patriots fans. Le’Veon Bell is still a problem. He is one of the best running backs in the league and has a knack for finding the open hole. Of course, it will be tough for Bell to run wild on the Patriots run defense. But, crazier things have happened. If the Patriots run defense shows up once again, it will be tough for Bell to get going. If some wholes open up on the Jets offensive line, it can be a long night for Patriots fans.

It’s A Monday Night Divisional Game On The Road

Let’s not make a mistake here. The Patriots SHOULD win this football game. But on any given day, crazy things can happen. The Jets will have the crowd behind them. They really have nothing to lose tonight. So you know they’ll be playing loose. The Patriots are trying to distance themselves from the rest of the AFC pack. A win tonight puts them at 7-0 with a struggling Browns team coming to Foxborough Sunday.

In Conclusion

This is a trap game, period. It shouldn’t be, but it is unfortunately. Do I still think the Patriots win this game? Yes. But, don’t be surprised if it’s a lot closer than you think. This Jets team has a few weapons on both sides of the football. That’s why you play the games on the field. Let’s all hope for a victory Tuesday!
