Three MLB teams to watch for in September
With the NFL season vastly approaching, people might be forgetting that the MLB is having quite the year. The San Francisco Giants came out of nowhere to surprise everyone in the NL West. We have the Rays that are having a great season and looking to defend their American League championship crown. The Yankees have resurged in the second half of the season. But what about the teams fighting for a playoff spot currently? Who are three MLB teams to keep an eye on come September? Well luckily, I have three pretty good teams to share with you all!
Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners have been in a rebuild since 2018. Honestly, it was probably the right thing to do at that time. Now, they find themselves in striking distance for an AL Wild card spot. They’re 5.5 games out of the second wild card spot behind the Red Sox. But honestly, a big September could get them into the postseason. With Ty France, J.P. Crawford, Kyle Seager, and Jarred Kelenic leading the charge, the Mariners could finally break their postseason drought. Who doesn’t love a good underdog story?
San Diego Padres
The San Diego Padres are currently two games out of the wildcard. This is a bit shocking with the Giants having the year that they’re having winning the N.L. West. This Padres team is going for it. They have all of the young talent with guys like Fernando Tatis Jr and veterans to get to where they want to be. This Padres team is supposed to be the team of the future. With their postseason berth on the line, it’s going to be fun to watch the Padres try to put it all together in September.
Cincinnati Reds
The team that the Padres are looking up to is the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds are currently two games up on the Padres for the second wild card spot. Let’s face it, the Dodgers or Giants will have that first wild card spot. But who wouldn’t want to see Joey Votto be in the playoffs? He’s one of the most popular players in baseball. He’s been through the ups and downs with the Reds. Give him a shot at the playoffs! It’ll be fun to see if Votto and the Reds can finish September strong to hold onto that second wild card spot.
