The Top Five NFL Wide Receivers for 2020

Fred’s Top Five

Things are subject to change in the NFL every year. New players are drafted, players hit Free Agency, and there is always a handful of coaching changes around the league. However, the top talent at wide receiver has been very consistent. Due to their electrifying plays each and every Sunday I thought it was the perfect time to take a look at the best wide receivers around the league. Below I will list my top five wide receivers for the 2020 season with a brief analysis of each player.

Julio Jones

Lets start with the most complete player at the wide receiver position. With Antonio Brown sidelined for a list of issues, Jones is my undisputed number one wide out in the league. Talk about a physical force. The 6’3 220 Atlanta Falcon has done nothing but live up to his high ceiling of expectations since he was drafted in 2011 out of the University of Alabama. With seven Pro Bowls and two All-Pros under his belt in nine seasons, I expect Jones to once again be a strong asset to an improved Atlanta Falcons offense. In 2019, Jones played in fifteen games hauling in 99 receptions and 1,400 yards.

Tyreek Hill

Next up in my opinion is one of the best football players in the league regardless of position. Tyreek the freak is the fastest player in the NFL. As both a receiver and a runner, Hill is the most dangerous player in the NFL with the ball in his hands. He continues to become more of an NFL player one year at a time. In just four professional seasons Hill has made the Pro-Bowl each year and has one All-Pro selection. The dynamic weapon will continue to be used by Coach Reid in many different ways. Do not forget he also has Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball. Hill will find the end zone in just about every game next season. I have his ceiling set at fourteen total Touchdowns.

Michael Thomas

Last season this fabulous wide receiver broke the record for most catches in a single season with 149 receptions. The previous year Thomas had 125 receptions. There is no valid argument saying he is not a top five player at his position. The well compensated New Orleans star has performed lights out each year and his twitter handle says it all. Expect Thomas to easily surpass 100 catches this coming season and get into the end zone at least a dozen times if healthy all year.

Davante Adams

This player may just catch some people by surprise in my top five. Adams comes to play each and every season in Green Bay and deserves the respect of the star that he is. Adams has made the Pro Bowl in three consecutive seasons and a fourth trip almost seems guaranteed. Rodgers is expected to have a fire lit under him after the Packers selected a Quarterback in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft and expect Adams to benefit heavily from it. Adams has 28 Touchdowns over the last three years and another one thousand yard season is on the horizon for the Green Bay Packer.

Mike Evans

Evans is as well rounded as you can ask for at the position. He takes pride in being able to run block on any given down. With the physique of a tight end he can out muscle any cornerback in the NFL. I expect his numbers to take a slight jump with Brady as part of the offense. Tom Brady has rarely had players of Evans’ caliber at the receiver position and I expect him to take full advantage. In 2019, Evans had eight Touchdowns and 1,157 receiving yards. I expect a ceiling of 13 Touchdowns and 1,200 yards if he plays a full sixteen games.
